Menuly (“we”, “the app”) helps you scan a restaurant menu and receive an instant AI dish recommendation. This policy explains what information we process, how it is used, and your privacy choices.

1. Information we process

• Camera images (on device): Used solely to extract menu text via on-device optical character recognition (OCR). Raw camera photos are processed locally on your device and are never stored or uploaded to remote servers.
• Menu text: Extracted text is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our backend infrastructure and processed by an AI language model to generate your recommendation.
• Mood, notes, and language: Sent along with the menu text to tailor the recommendation to your dining preferences (e.g. spicy level, dietary preference).
• Local history: Saved dish recommendations are stored strictly on your local device. They are not synchronized to remote servers.
• Advertising and diagnostic data: To support free access to the app, third-party advertising networks may collect pseudonymous device identifiers (such as advertising IDs), approximate location, IP address, and ad interaction events for ad delivery, fraud prevention, frequency capping, and analytics.

2. Permissions

• Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Required to scan physical menus in real time.
• Internet (android.permission.INTERNET): Required to communicate with backend services for AI dish recommendations and to load advertisements.

3. How we use information

We process menu text and mood selections solely to generate and refine your in-app dining suggestions. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your menu scans or custom dining notes to train advertising profiles.

In-app ads (such as banners, native cards, interstitials, and rewarded videos) are served through third-party advertising partners to help cover server and artificial intelligence processing costs.

4. Third-party service providers

We engage trusted third-party service providers to facilitate and deliver app functionality. These providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality and security standards:

• Cloud and infrastructure providers: Host backend servers and route API requests securely.
• Artificial intelligence providers: Process extracted menu text ephemerally using machine learning models to generate dish recommendations and answer follow-up queries.
• Advertising networks: Deliver, measure, and optimize in-app advertisements. These partners may collect device identifiers and usage metrics in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

5. Data retention

• On-device history remains on your device until you delete items in the app or clear app data.
• API requests are processed ephemerally to produce the response and are not retained to build personal profiles.

6. Children’s privacy

Menuly is a dining utility intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Security

All network communications between the app and our backend servers use industry-standard HTTPS / TLS encryption. Do not input passwords, financial details, or sensitive personal data into custom chat notes.

8. Your choices and controls

• Camera permission: You can grant or revoke camera access at any time in your device settings (Settings > Apps > Menuly > Permissions).
• Ad personalization: You can reset or limit your device's advertising identifier at any time through your device settings (e.g. Settings > Privacy > Ads).
• Data deletion: Clear local suggestions anytime using the in-app delete buttons or by uninstalling the application.
